A brief photo journal of last week! A longer, more detailed post will follow after May 7th when I am finished with finals.

William at the zoo!

He loved the elephants.

And the apes...

He discovered a little alcove to hide in!

We all had a great time with Grandma Susan and Grandpa Edward. We were so lucky to have her come visit/take care of us!

Mr. Active

Mr. Active was feeling better today so he decided to take on Mt. Staircase and climbed all the way to the top!!

Just a few random, recent pictures of my rapidly growing baby!

Look at those little curls! Hopefully the front of his head will catch up soon.

"I think it's so funny when Mom tries to take my picture!! She's hilarious!"

This is how William greets me now when I go get him in the morning or after a nap!

He also loves to take a few laps around the bed before going to sleep. You know, just a little exercise before he sleeps.

Second Illness

It's not my intention to keep track of all the times William gets sick, but since this is only the second time it's easy to do. Today he woke up with a 102 degree fever. Though he seemed okay during the day, he tired easily and napped a lot. This evening though, his fever spike to 103.5 and he crawled up into my lap for a cuddle. I think it's the first time in a long time that he's wanted to sit and cuddle with me for longer than 3 minutes. He laid his little head on my shoulder and we watched Sesame Street for a full hour. Poor little guy! If he's not running around, you know he doesn't feel well. A cool bath and a some medicine helped and he finally fell asleep tonight. Hopefully he'll feel better in the morning!

It's another beautiful Sunday in DC, so this afternoon we took William to the neighborhood playground. As usual he had a great time going down the slide, watching the older kids, and (new to us this week) climbing up the stairs and around the equiptment. He's so cute and had so much fun exploring the playground!

Life is so much fun!

I cherish every stage of William's life, but this one is fun, fun, fun! My little boy is into everything. He's crawling, cruising, and taking steps towards Independence. Everything is an adventure. Everything is exciting. Yesterday, he walked, all by himself, across the kitchen. I think he surprised himself so much that he hasn't been able to repeat the trek, but he has taken three or four steps on his own.

Today he decided to chase Sampson around the house. This always cracks me up because Sampson does like William but he does not like William to pet him because William pulls his fur. (William did this to poor, sleeping Sampson a couple of times and Sampson is still traumatized from the ordeal.) So Sampson usually just zips in, gives William a lick and once over for food and zips out of arm's length before William can pet him.

Anyway, William decided to chase Sampson around the house and took off on foot to get him. He toddled around by holding on to chairs, walls and the piano-basically anything he could find. But occasionally the distance between supports was too big. So William stretched out as far as he could, keeping on hand on the current support and then inched slowly away. He took a couple of steps then fell on his bottom. Undeterred he crawled to the next support and kept up the chase! He's very stubborn!

Two Steps

William is on the move! He's crawling like crazy now, and he's been taking a couple of steps on his own. Last night he took a couple for Taylor and today at the park, he pushed off my leg and took two steps away from me. Then he looked surprised, reached back for my hand and took off again tugging me along with him.
When I do walk with him now he prefers to hold just one hand. That leaves the other hand free to carry his blankie or a toy. We've been pretty lazy about taking pictures these past couple of weeks but we'll fix that this week! I am also (still) trying to get our videos on the site!
