Clapping

William learned how to walk really early. (Taking his first solo steps at 9.5 months! Cruising on furniture at 8 months! Crazy!) However, he was on the later end of the trend to consistently clap. Oh, he'd tease us by doing it once in a while. But two days ago, William decided clapping is his new favorite thing and now he does it all the time!!! I have a video which I'll hopefully upload tomorrow. His other new activity is dancing. When I turn music on he bounces up and down! So cute!

Dinner!

William just went through about two weeks of voracious eating. I think this is a new growth spurt because it's tapered off some and he's back to his normal appetite. During this time though I got so tired of him protesting his highchair that I decided it's time he eat at the table like a big boy.

What's funny is that we all had the same meal but William preferred eating off my plate than his own!

William on the Carousel

Yesterday we took William to Wheaton Park. It's only about 20 minutes away and it's amazing! There is a mini train ride around the park, a beautiful old fashioned carousel, huge playgrounds, stables, botanical gardens, a live butterfly exhibit etc. We took William to the carousel and the playgrounds.
I don't think he quite knew what was going on during the carousel ride! But after a few minutes he seemed to enjoy it and even cracked a smile once or twice. He loved the swings and the slides as usual and had a great time watching all the other kids!!

Birthdays, Stacking Cups and Running Around

Today, we went to Pablo Miguel's first birthday! Leslie and Pablo Miguel have a wonderful backyard and had a great party to celebrate his birthday. William loved running around in the grass. The yard was just slightly sloped and when he found himself walking downhill, William would start going faster and faster and it was pretty clear he didn't know how to stop!! He had to run to a chair to slow down. It was hilarious.

Check out the cake above! Leslie's Mom decorated and made it all on her own. It was delicious and beautiful. (She also made amazing tamales and papusas!)

Adorable baby and happy Mom! Happy Birthday Pablo Miguel!

It will be William's turn to eat cake soon.
But in the meantime he can play with Tyler!

William toddled away from Taylor and me to go play with this all by himself. He's so independent!
I know I've said it before, but William is always moving! He's such an active joy. Yesterday, we had my friend Mimi and her daughter, Lila over. Lila and William are going to be hosting their birthday together because they are only two days apart!! While Mimi and I planned the party, William and Lila played with ALL of the toys. They were so cute, passing them back and forth. Bopping each other with blocks. And walking (or crawling for Lila) all over the house! By the time Mimi and Lila left, William was exhausted from running room to room

I wish I had pictures of Lila and William playing together but Mimi and I were so busy planning that I didn't get a chance to pull out the camera. Next time!

William also has a new skill! He stacks all the cups together in order during bath time!

May

May is off to a great start! Finals are done-whoo hoo! The summer with nothing to do has begun. Now I just have to figure out what I am going to do with all my free time. I am getting worried I'll be bored.

Last week Erin, Scarlett and Landon came to visit us! Hopefully they'll come back soon because it was definitely not boring with three kids in the house! Scarlett is adorable and it's fun to watch her knowing that William will soon be able to talk, run and play like she does. Landon is too cute and still small enough to snuggle

William loved playing with Scarlett and Landon!
Three happy babies on the sofa!
William wasn't feeling great and was teething so he was pretty cranky.
Taylor with three babies! Look how well he's handling all three of them!

Almost ready for a bath!
Look at their faces! Ha ha ha!

Grandparents!

A brief photo journal of last week! A longer, more detailed post will follow after May 7th when I am finished with finals.

William at the zoo!

He loved the elephants.

And the apes...

He discovered a little alcove to hide in!

We all had a great time with Grandma Susan and Grandpa Edward. We were so lucky to have her come visit/take care of us!

Randomness

Just a few random, recent pictures of my rapidly growing baby!

Look at those little curls! Hopefully the front of his head will catch up soon.

"I think it's so funny when Mom tries to take my picture!! She's hilarious!"

This is how William greets me now when I go get him in the morning or after a nap!

He also loves to take a few laps around the bed before going to sleep. You know, just a little exercise before he sleeps.

Second Illness

It's not my intention to keep track of all the times William gets sick, but since this is only the second time it's easy to do. Today he woke up with a 102 degree fever. Though he seemed okay during the day, he tired easily and napped a lot. This evening though, his fever spike to 103.5 and he crawled up into my lap for a cuddle. I think it's the first time in a long time that he's wanted to sit and cuddle with me for longer than 3 minutes. He laid his little head on my shoulder and we watched Sesame Street for a full hour. Poor little guy! If he's not running around, you know he doesn't feel well. A cool bath and a some medicine helped and he finally fell asleep tonight. Hopefully he'll feel better in the morning!

Park

It's another beautiful Sunday in DC, so this afternoon we took William to the neighborhood playground. As usual he had a great time going down the slide, watching the older kids, and (new to us this week) climbing up the stairs and around the equiptment. He's so cute and had so much fun exploring the playground!
